  LRP X11 BRUSHLESS MOTORS

LRP have had a successful entry into the world of brushless systems with the Sphere and Sphere competition. Widely regarded as the very best speed controller to use, they having already won many national championships as well as very nearly clinching the very first World Championships with a brushless system at the recent 1/12th scale worlds.
With the past years experience and successes under their belt, the team at LRP have continued to drive forward the development of the brushless motors, experimenting with different magnets, sensors and stack configurations. The final specifications resulted in the brand new Vector X11 range!
Using the latest military grade neodymium magnets and a new hand wound low resistance stack these motors are the most powerful and efficient yet!
New larger diameter high-speed ball-races give the rotor maximum support and increased reliability.
The 7.5 and 6.5 turn motors are suitable for all Sphere speed controllers, where as the 5.5 and 4.5 turn motors need to be used with the more powerful Sphere Competition.
The 4.5 turn X11 uses an ultra powerful sintered rotor to cope with the massive stresses that go with such high RPM **
The next generation is here and it’s fast! If you haven’t already made the move to brushless maybe its about time you did. All this performance and technology and virtually maintenance free, you will certainly never suffer with a sticky brush again!

** Some race series may not allow the sintered 4.5 motor, so please check first

  LITHIUM POLYMER CAR BATTERIES

The Sub-C battery has come a long way in the last few years, the capacity has almost quadrupled since a lot of us started racing! But with all of these extra components being squeezed into that casing they are starting to get a bit fat and heavy, a bit like uncle Vernon at Christmas (sorry uncle!), soon there will be no scope for further improvements.
So where do we go from here?
Lithium Polymer looks like being the answer!!
For many years now, Lithium Polymer batteries have been enjoying a colossal following in the electric flight field. They enjoy masses more power and voltage than a traditional style battery. They don’t suffer with loss of performance through a built up memory, yet volt for volt they weigh nearly half as much!
Lithium Polymer has recently started to make its way into the car market, boasting extreme power and massive run time. Up until now though these batteries have been expensive and have lacked the essential circuitry needed within the pack to ensure a long and safe life.

“... They enjoy masses more power and voltage than a traditional style battery, do not suffer with loss of performance through a built up memory, yet volt for volt they weigh nearly half as much!!...”

LRP are proud to be the first to introduce a cost effective and safe Lithium Polymer battery into the car market. There is the 5000mah 7.4 volt pack which is built to fit most 1/10th scale chassis and is built to the same size and shape as a Sub-C stick pack, then there is the 1800mah 7.4 volt 2/3 A pack more suitable for the 1/18th scale micro cars and trucks. In both cases these battery packs give so much more voltage and power than the current batteries in use.
The first thing that most car drivers will notice is the presence of two sets of leads coming from the battery. One is the traditional battery lead through which you charge the pack and connect to your speed controller. The other is for ‘balancing’ the cells. Each pack contains two cells, each with a nominal voltage of 3.6 volts. For continued good performance and long cell life it is essential that the cells are regularly balanced so that their performance is kept at peak performance, and as they do not suffer from a ‘voltage memory’ the performance will not drop off from charge to charge as much as a standard cell!

Please be aware that these packs require a Lithium Polymer charger and balancer and can only be used with a Lithium Polymer compatible speed controller such as the LRP Sphere. If used with a non-compatible speed controller a Li-poly voltage failsafe must be fitted between battery and speed controller. Without this there is danger of cells failing and causing damage if voltage is allowed to drop below recommended levels.
