This is the first time this event has been held in the UK so Philip Mortstedt Mr Neo-Buggy himself and the crew from DXR didn’t disappoint. The preparation in the facility, pitting and surrounding area was everything you could have wished for. The track preparation was one of the best ever seen by the drivers with a hard packed surface sculpted into a flowing layout with great jumps and cambered sections really rewarded a good driver and car set-up.
The event started with a day of controlled practice on the Friday, four rounds for the buggies and two rounds for the truggies due to time allowed. After round one the track was already up to speed and lap times were for the majority around the 38-40 second mark, few people could go faster and even less were consistent for the full five minutes. The early results showed a large number of people all around the same speed with Adam Drake topping the pile by a few seconds and just off the nine-lap marker.
Saturday morning saw the start of qualification and the Drake took charge, TQ in the first three rounds secured the top spot and direct qualification into the main final. Not happy with just that he then did exactly the same with his Losi 8ight T ! Claiming double TQ honours.
All day Adam had been pushed hard by UK drivers Karl Jackson, John Hazelwood, Jamie Booth, Neil Cragg, Graham Alsop and European drivers Robert Battle, David Tortorici, Daniel Vega and from the US there was Greg Degani and Andrew Smolnik. |

Truggy Final |
|
| |
After all the fun and drama of the semi’s and lower finals the main event in both classes were sure to be fantastic races. In the Truggy main Adam took the lead from the start and slowly pulled away, driving with ease and confidence. Fuel stops every 7m30 did mean one extra stop during the 30minute final but with a large enough lead this was no problem at all.

Buggy Final |
|
| |
In the Buggy class there were two great semi final races with drama right from the start. David Crompton broke his Magic car in warm-up and therefore it looked like he couldn’t run the final. The race director asked the drivers if he could then run a friends car and no-one objected, he then went on to drive a great race and made the main final with a Kyosho 777. In the other semi it all went down to the last five minutes, three cars all fighting for the last place in the final. Pit crews all anxious and drivers all on the edge pushing as hard as they could. When the dust settled it looked like our own Edd Kerry driving the Losi 8ight had just missed the final resulting in the main event looking like this: |

A perfect start to the final from Adam and his Losi 8ight saw him take the lead and never looked back. Winning the final by 3 laps and setting the fastest lap of the race. Second and third place had a race right up until the last lap with David tortorici just passing Greg Degani through the front double section and holding on to take second place. |

What a weekend for Adam Drake and the Losi 8ight, dominance in qualification carried over into an excellent drive in both Truggy and the buggy class with two well deserved wins.
Congratulations Adam and Team Losi, a Job well done!
