This is a one off meeting which is run once a year by the Southport club, at Formby High School. The track for the meeting was a very technical track with a mix of carpet, Plastic sheeting, ripples, jump’s, a raised matted area and a wooden banked corner! Full concentration, a well set up car and no mistakes is what was needed to get a good time in on this track.
A technically demanding track was laid out consisting of differing surfaces and an awesome banked corner.

Qualifying

55 drivers had book in to race and in the 2WD Class Stuart Mahon with his Losi XXX-CR was looking the fastest in 2WD and with the two fastest TQ’s times under his belt he took pole in the ‘A’.
In 4WD Mark Redmond with his PEAK powered Losi XX4-WE was looking the fastest, taking the TQ spot in three out of the four rounds, he was also the only driver at the meeting to make 14 laps, once in round four of qualifying and then again in the final.

Finals.

In the 2WD ‘A’ Final, Stuart Mahon was looking the most likely for the win, but unfortunately as he was trying to pass back markers his car got damaged and had to try and finish the race with one of its front wheels missing! He tried his best to hold on to first place but in the end did very well to finish 4th.

The start of the 2WD A Final.

In the 4WD ‘A’ Final, Mark Redmond got pushed wide in to the first corner and was knocked down to fourth place in the running order, however, after only a few laps it was clear to see that the Losi XX4 WE car of Mark’s was the fastest and best handling on the track and in no time at all found it’s self pushing 1st place for the lead, then on about lap six the 1st place man made a mistake and Mark went in to the lead where he never looked back and went on to take the win.
An unlucky start for Mark saw him relegated to fourth at the first corner. His well set-up XX-4 was quickly pushing the first place car before taking the lead on lap six.

In both 2WD and 4WD the Losi cars showed that they were the class of the field. In the 4WD class where there was a number of different makes of cars the Losi XX4 WE car of Mark Redmond showed that the chassis and handling of the Losi was the best able to cope with the unpredictable, multi surface track!!
